Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - A decision to this effect was passed at a today's meeting, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The procedure is in compliance with the provisions of the Moldovan Constitution (article 100, 101 paragraph (3), 103) and the Law on government (article 6), which states that in case of resignation of the prime minister, both the head of the government, and all members of the cabinet resign before the parliament.

"On 12 June, I announced the decision to resign from the office of prime minister of Moldova. Considering that Article 101 of the Constitution stipulates that, with the resignation of the prime minister, the entire Cabinet resigns, we will formalize the concerned decision in the form of a resignation application that we submit to the parliament. In continuation, the government shall be entitled to the administration of public affairs before a new government is sworn in office. I want to thank you for today's meeting and all meetings that we had together. Thank you for the work you have done, for dedication and cooperation in these months. I wish you success wherever you are!” concluded Chiril Gaburici.

On Friday, 12 June, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici has announced his resignation, stressing that his gesture was not a political one, because he is a manager and not a politician, but rather a strategic and mathematical one. In his statement on resignation, the prime minister added that, to change the system created in the country, he needed additional tools and support on behalf of political parties, which he did not have.

The government led by Chiril Gaburici was invested by the parliament on 18 February 2015, and thus a precedent of  a minority government appeared in Moldova. On 29 May, the Gaburici cabinet registered his first 100 days in office.
