Moldovan resigned prime minister not to ensure interim of office

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament took note of the resignation of prime minister and entire cabinet. The decision on government’s resignation was approved with the majority of votes of MPs at a parliament meeting today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Also today, resigned Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici remitted to President Nicolae Timofti an official letter by which he provides his refuse to exercise the interim of office of prime minister till a new government to be created.
„Under the Constitution’s provisions and based on the yesterday interpretation of constitutional clauses, I informed Moldovan president that I refuse to ensure the interim of post due to reasons provided once with resignation and I request to be designated an interim prime minister. I presented to Mr President my notice in written form in this respect. At the same time, I do not want that interest groups to speculate on my decisions and statemenst over the past period, in order to get political capital and image. I want that the coalition leaders to see in my resignation an immediate start to create a new parliamentary majority and a new government, which to continue the European path of reforms for Moldova!” Chiril Gaburici says.
In these circumstances, according to the article 101 paragraph (2) of the Constitution, the head of state may appoint as interim prime minister one of those three deputy prime ministers.
Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici made public his statement on resignation on 12 June, emphasising that his gesture is not a political one as he is a manager not a politician. In his statement, Gaburici added that in order to change the system created in Moldova, he needs additional instruments and support ones from the political parties, which the prime minister does not have.
„I appeal to the coalition leaders to see in my resignation a step forward, an immediate start to create a new parliamentary majority and a new government. I wish that fight against corruption, depoliticisation of all institutions, as well as the security of the financial and banking system to be put at the basis of the new government’s action programme. I also want that the initiatives of the government, of my team, to be followed for Moldova’s wellbeing and prosperity. I hope that my resignation will mean for the coalition the creation of a new parliamentary majority, a stable one for this time,” Chiril Gaburici said on 12 June.
