Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - The functionality of all state institutions, continuation of projects under way and ensuring of public order in Moldova are the goals of the present interim government. Interim Prime Minister, Acting Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman highlighted these priorities today.
After the cabinet meeting summoned by President Nicolae Timofti today, Gherman said that „she hopes that this interim period will be as short as possible”.
„Moldova needs a stable and responsible government, in order to continue the pro-European reforms underway and ensure the European integration,” Gherman said.
Under the law, the interim cabinet of ministers fulfills only the duties of managing public affairs, till a new government is sworn in office.
Nicolae Timofti is to designate a new candidate for the office of prime minister in three months at the latest. If this attempt fails twice, the parliament is dissolved and snap elections are organised.
President Nicolae Timofti designated Natalia Gherman as interim prime minister today. Gherman has served as deputy prime minister, foreign and European integration minister since 2013.
