Moldovan parliamentary delegation participates in PACE summer session

Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/- A Moldovan parliamentary delegation attends the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The meeting takes place in Strasbourg, on 22-26 June, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The delegation is made up of Deputy Parliament Speaker Liliana Palihovici, MPs Violeta Ivanov, Valeriu Ghiletchi and Andrei Neguta.
The participants in the session will holds debates on opportunity to cancel prerogatives of the Russian delegation and situation on missed persons in the conflict in Ukraine. The agenda also includes discussions on parliamentary elections in Turkey, work of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan, implementation of PACE resolution No. 1941 (2013) by Hungary, enhancing the level of transparency of media owners, development of a new European social model, preventing neo-racism, etc. PACE will adopt a string of recommendations and resolutions on these issues.
A ceremony dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Europe Prize will be held on the first day of the session; the prize is the highest distinction provided to cities from Europe for actions of promoting European values. The 2015 winners of this prize are the cities Dresden, Germany, and Vara from Sweden.
Under the agenda, President of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia & Herzegovina Igor Crnadak will present a report and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland will answer questions by MPs. At the same time, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Maltese President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will give speeches to the PACE plenum.
