NATO approves Moldova defence capacity building set

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The defence ministers of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) on 24 June approved a set which provides for strengthening Moldova's defence capacities.
According to a press release by NATO, the Alliance's Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg said that „this package will help Moldova strengthen the defence and security institutions, taking into account potential threats on behalf of Russia”.
A meeting of NATO defence ministers took place at the NATO General Headquarters in Brussels on 24 June. Though Moldova is not a NATO member, it also participated in the event, represented by Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru.
Moldova joined the Partnership for Peace (PfP) in 1994, in order to continuously improve its armed forces, train staff, for the learning of language by National Army officers, to access sources of political, technical and financial assistance.
