Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, at a today's news conference, urged voters to opt for candidates of democratic parties at the polls due on 28 June.
"On next Sunday, we have to give a retort to hostile forces and to prove that election in favour of democracy and European development is a correct one. Only in this way, we will make easier the task of ensuring a democratic, European and natural development of the country," Filat said.
Filat also touched upon the case on PLDM's candidate for mayor office in Racovat village, northern Soroca district, Mihail Andries, who had been beaten by three masked individuals last night.
"I launch an appeal to citizens from settlements where the runoff election will be held on 28 June. Think it over very well before you elect, as the Moldovan politics over the last time is increasingly populated by hostile elements to Moldova's development, by different foreign agents and people with the goal to destabilise the situation in the country", he said.
On 28 June, runoff election will be held in 145 settlements to elect mayors, and repeated voting - in another three settlements.
