Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/- The Electoral Bloc "Moldova European People's Platform - Iurie Leanca" (PPEM), at a today 's news conference, informed that it would back the Liberal Party's candidate in the runoff local election due on 28 June.

A municipal councilor on behalf of PPEM, Oazu Nantoi, said that the party had started negotiations with the PL's faction, to set up a majority in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC).

"We have already made the first steps. We presented the PL colleagues a detailed version of our priorities with deadlines for implementation, showing our full willingness to work together on the basis of concrete goals. I invite you to vote for Dorin Chirtoaca for the development of Chisinau as municipality and continuing Moldova's European integration", Nantoi said.

He underlined that the bloc's commitments remained unchanged and quite firm: fighting corruption, especially by re-organising the city hall and the way it works, better services and infrastructure for residents and increasing investments and economic activity in the municipality.

"Our team of CMC, which you have elected, will insistently promote these commitments. And the citizen's interest will have precedence. Yet, these can be achieved only if supported by a pro-European majority in the CMC and the general mayor," he said.

PPEM got six mandates in the CMC at the 14 June local elections, and Nantoi picked up 10.18 per cent of the ballots, ranking third on the top of candidates for mayor office.

On 28 June, runoff election will be held in 457 settlements to elect mayors, and repeated voting takes places in another three settlements.
