Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/- The chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Iurie Ciocan, today said that after recounting of votes in the Moldovan settlements where this procedure was demanded, the results of the polls had remained unchanged.
Ciocan said that, in some settlements, such as Singerei town or Tintareni village, eastern Anenii Noi district, the candidate who had demanded recounting of votes proved to have by one vote less than before the recount.
"About 10,000 lei is spent to recount the votes. We urge all those who request this procedure to think twice before submitting application", he said.
Under the legislation, in case of disagreement with preliminary results of the voting, till the results are confirmed by the relevant courts, the electoral contenders can demand that these courts order vote recount.
On 28 June, the runoff election will be held in 457 settlements, and repeated voting will take place in three settlements.
