European Parliament rapporteur to visit Chisinau

Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/- The rapporteur of the European Parliament for Moldova, Lithuanian MEP Petras Austrevicius will pay a visit to Chisinau on 2-3 July, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The visit's agenda includes meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Acting Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman.
Petras Austrevicius will also meet MPs of the commissions on foreign policy and European integration, human rights and inter-ethnic relations, juridical commission for rules and immunities, as well as the leadership of the parliamentary factions and parliament's secretariat.
Austrevicius will also have meetings with Head of EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola and UN Resident Coordinator, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gercheva.
On 3 July, the official will visit the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and will meet bashkan (governor) Irina Vlah and representatives of Popular Assembly (local parliament). The MEP will also visit the Comrat-based parliament's information office.
Austrevicius is also coordinator of the annual programme on cooperation between European and Moldovan parliaments for 2015. The programme sees providing assistance to the parliament for approximation and adjusting of the national legislation with the EU acquis, strengthening capacities of parliamentary commissions, supporting parliament's information offices, organising parliamentary seminars, study visits to European Parliament, providing assistance for elaborating Regulations of procedure, offering scholarships to employees within the Democracy scholarships programme.
