Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - The salaries and social payments, as well as the state debts will be fully paid. Acting Prime Minister Natalia Gherman made a statement to this effect today, given that information has been lately spread on possibility for Moldova to get into a default.
Gherman demanded that the local public authorities, ministries and other state institutions "temporarily suspend commitments for new expenses and avoid investments and purchasings of non-essential goods."
"Some days ago, I asked Economics Minister Stephane Bride, Finance Minister Anatol Arapu for information on the social and economic situation in the country. The prime minister's resignation and postponement of the discussions with the International Monetary Fund affected the state of the macroeconomic indicators," Gherman said.
As for a possible increase of the electric energy rates, Gherman said that the government would keep a close eye on the state of things in the concerned sector and would ask the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) to daily provide information on the matter.
The management of Union Fenosa on 29 June said it would cut the electricity supplies to consumers by 40 per cent, given that the rate was not increased and the company was in a difficult situation.
