Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit today, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials broached the present stage of cooperation ties between the two states and boosting of the Moldova-U.S. Strategic Dialogue. The sides highlighted the need to organise the next Moldova-USA meeting at the level of coordinators of the strategic dialogue, due in Washington D.C. in September 2015.
„We thank the U.S. Government for the increased attention and constant assistance provided to Moldova, in order to implement the national reforms agenda and implement the strategic goal of European integration of Moldova,” Andrei Galbur said.
For his part, James Pettit assured that the USA would continue implementing assistance programmes meant for Moldova and voiced hope that the interim period would be short and talks on creating a new government would end as soon as possible, in order to carry out the commitments assumed by Moldova towards international partners.
At the same time, the officials exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, including in the context of regional developments, stressing the USA's constructive role in the negotiation and implementation of confidence-building measures on both banks of Dniester.
