Joint Control Commission tackles issue of free movement in Security Zone

17:02 | 03.07.2015 Category: Official

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - Under previously reached agreements, the Joint Control Commission (JCC) was to discuss the issue of free movement in the Security Zone at a 2 July meeting, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

During all the meeting, the Transnistrian delegation tried to deviate talks from the aforementioned issue and continued to defy understandings and commitments assumed in this respect by all JCC co-chairs.

Moldova’s representatives reiterated the need to start a transparent and objective monitoring of the situation in the Security Zone, with the involvement of experts from OSCE Mission, Russia and Ukraine. This would allow identifying drawbacks present in the work of the peacekeeping mechanism and would give military observers possibility to freely collect data on all incidents occurred in the Security Zone.

Proceeding from the need to make additional consultations, talks on the mentioned items would be continued at the next meeting on 9 July.

At the same time, JCC co-chairs, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission will convene at a working meeting to discuss possible options to solve the problem of free movement in the Security Zone, by taking into consideration the previously assumed commitments.
