Moldovan MPs amend law on medical profession

Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/- A draft law on amending and completing the law on medical profession was approved by the parliament in the second reading today.
The draft's basic goal is completing the legal status of the resident doctor. Thus, under the document, the activity of resident doctor will be exercised by people making the residency studies. They will have theoretical and practical courses, as well as they will be able to provide medical assistance, being guided by a physician responsible for the final results of resident doctor.
The amendments have been made in order to remove legislative gap created around the status of resident doctors. Due to the amendments, the residents will have the opportunity to get employed in medical institutions as specialist physician.
The draft law was backed with 70 votes and will enter into force upon its publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
