Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/- Acting Prime Minister Natalia Gherman today conveyed a message to Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Moldova's accession to the Council of Europe, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The message reads:
"Dear Mr. Secretary General,
Today we mark the 20th anniversary of Moldova's accession to the Council of Europe. A postal stamp was launched on this occasion in Chisinau.
This event offers us the opportunity to assess the partnership with the Council of Europe, which proved to be extremely important in the process of building our young democracy. Many of the reforms and achievements in Moldova have been possible due to the support and expertise by the Council of Europe.
The implementation of the standards of the organisation has positively influenced the national institutions and each citizen in the process of transforming and ensuring the rule of law state, democracy and human rights.
Our most important goal remains switching to the post-monitoring stage of Moldova by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
I am firmly convinced that the bilateral dialogue will further advance, especially, by developing new initiatives.
Relying on consolidation of this constructive partnership, I ask you to accept the assurances of my highest consideration".
