National Guard commander of North Carolina on visit to Moldova

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/- The cooperation relations of the Moldovan-American partnership in the defence sector were discussed today by Acting Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru and commander of the National Guard of the North Carolina, Major General Gregory Lusk, who is on a working visit to Moldova on 14-17 July.
Cibotaru appreciated the US government's support in the training, logistics and technical sectors, provided to the Defence Ministry. He said that it had significantly contributed to reforming and modernising the National Army.
Also, the defence minister thanked the leadership of the National Guard of the North Carolina for assistance in vocational training and assessing Moldovan peacekeepers, which allowed the National Army's participation in the peacekeeping missions with international mandate.
For his part, Gregory Lusk highlighted the dynamic character of the cooperation relations between the National Army and the institution he leads, and opted for continuing the dialogue by implementing new projects favorable for both sides.
Gregory Lusk will visit the Moldova Brigade from Balti city.
Cooperation between the Defence Ministry and National Guard of the North Carolina started in 1996 with the programme on military.
