Moldovan, Belarusian presidents broach bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/- The 16th meeting of the Moldovan-Belarusian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation was held in Minsk, Belarus, on 15-16 July. The commisison's protocol was signed in the presence of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, who was on an official visit there.
According to a press release by the Economics Ministry, the officials reported the achievements got by both sides and set bilateral cooperation goals in the commerce, industry, regional development, agriculture, transport, energy, medicine etc.
Also, the sides agreed to promote the mutual investments, opportunities offered by the Free Economic Zones and industrial parks, as well as to turn to good account the possibilities of exporting agricultural products to the EU and Customs Union. In the context, the representatives of the relevant institutions will consider the possibility to set up joint societies for processing food products in the two countries and to promote the products on the markets of the third countries.
As regards cooperation in the industry sector, the sides decided to extend the shares of traded commodities between the two countries, as well as the number of enterprises accredited to carry out them in line with the agreement between the relevant ministries of the two countries.
At the same time, the commisison agreed to consider the possibility to extend delivery of tractors, road maintenance equipment, as well as equipment needed to assembling tractors and similar products in the country. In this context, the specialised institutions from both countries will create conditions necessary for increasing the number of trolleybuses assembled in Moldova up to 40 units in 2015.
