Moldovan president meets Belarusian counterpart

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/- President Nicolae Timofti is on an official visit to Minsk, Belarus. The official today held face to face meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the presidential press service has reported.
The two presients held press statements as well.
Timofti delivered the following speech:
"Dear Mr.President,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Distinguished audience.
I would like to thank first of all Mr. President of Belarus for warm reception and special hospitality.
We had constructive and sincere consultations, reconfirming the advanced level of relations between our countries, relations based on mutual trust and support.
We discussed the Moldovan-Belarusian cooperation development prospects and exchanged opinions about the situation at international level and regional security.
We want to develop the bilateral dialogue and economic cooperation between the business, scientific and cultural circles of our countries.
We consider joint projects in agroindustrial, energy, transport and infrastructure sectors.
The presence of Moldovan products on the eastern market may be carried out with the help of Belarus.
Moldova can contribute to setting new additional economic connections with the EU states.
One of good examples of Moldovan-Belarusian cooperation is assembling in Chisinau of Belarusian trolleybuses. Today we set to extend this project.
Also, we considered the opportunity to increase the export of fruits, vegetables and wines.
I appreciated the activity and positive role of the Moldovan-Belarusian intergovernmetnal commission for economic cooperation, which is an efficient instrument in promoting economic ties between the two countries.
In political sector, we exchanged opinions about the international situation and regional security.
I reiterated commitment to the principles of observing sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states. We opt for regulating security problems on the basis of principles and general norms of international law.
I am sure that the agreements, as well as the signed documents will contribute to deepening cooperation between Moldova and Belarus.
Thanks a lot to Mr. President Aleksandr Lukashenko for openness and friendship provided to my country.
I reconfirm our willingness to take all efforts to achieve a new quality level of the Moldovan-Belarusian bilateral relations.
