Moldovan servicemen take part in multinational drills in Ukraine

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - A contingent of the National Army participates in the Rapid Trident 2015 and Saber Guardian 2015 multinational drills at the Yavorov International Peacekeeping Centre from Lviv, Ukraine, on 19 July-1 August.
The press officer of the National Army’s Commander, Ala Diaconu, said that the Moldovan contingent is made up of 38 servicemen on contract from peacekeeping and sapper battalions, Artillery Division and Dacia Infantry Brigade.
Diaconu specified that together with other contingents from 18 states, the Moldovan servicemen are involved in testing the interoperability of multinational forces as to organise and carry out a peacekeeping operation.
The commander of the Moldovan contingent, Major Tudor Popa said the officers and sub-officers of the National Army would execute, together with colleagues from other armies, actions at observation posts and check points, patrolling missions on foot and by cars, calling up of artillery fire, tactic march on cars, actions to neutralise improvised explosive devices, to provide first aid and security operations.
Almost 1,860 servicemen from Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Great Britain, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Spain, Estonia, Turkey, Sweden, Belgium, the United States of America and Ukraine take part in the drills.
