Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Defence Ministry has detached for the first time ever a serviceman for the EU Military Advisory Mission(EUMAM) in the Central African Republic, namely Lieutenant-Colonel Anatol Zavtur, who will work within the mission for six months.
Zavtur said that EUMAM’s activity focused on providing military counselling to power wielding forces of the Central African Republic, including education and training of military staff; operation training; mobilisation and control of resources, logistical support etc. ”All these are done in order to help the local army to implement efficient reforms in security sector,” Zavtur said.
Zavtur also added that Moldova’s flag is unique compared to the others of this mission, as it was handmade by Central Africans and it also includes embroidery elements. ”The reason is that, being a new country in the mission, the community did not have ready our flag and find the solution this way, by getting inspired from pictures on the internet,” Zavtur said.
Presently, other 13 servicemen of the National Army participate in international peacekeeping missions under the aegis of UN in Africa, namely in Ivory Coast, Liberia, South Sudan, Central African Republic.
