Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Agency for Food Safety (ANS) will benefit from a 100-thousand-euro-worth project, financed within the Official Development Assistance – a financial and expertise transfer instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
In this respect, ANSA Head Iurie Carp and Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca today signed a memorandum of understanding on financing and implementation of a project titled „Strengthening institutional capacities of the National Agency for Food Safety of Moldova”.
„By this project we intend to increase the administrative and operating capacity of the National Agency for Food Safety in order to develop an efficient and reliable control system to monitor and report diseases in animals. The development of such a system in compliance with the European standards and requirements is a first step towards the opening of new markets to export live animals and products of animal origin from Moldova,” Lazurca said.
Lazurca added that, via the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA), Romania would support the Moldovan relevant authorities in order to efficiently check vaccination of animals, endowing with laboratory reagents, staff training etc.
The programme on supervision of Newcastle disease will be improved and ANSVSA experts will carry out three trainings with Moldovan veterinaries at central and local level, so that ANSA to be able to provide the European Commission with guarantees as to the statute of free of Newcastle disease of Moldovan poultry farms.
Iurie Carp thanked the Romanian side for the provided support and emphasised that this would allow that exports of live animals and products of animal origin of Moldova to increase on the EU market.
