Moldovan Liberal Democrat Party forwards candidate for prime minister office

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Education Minister Maia Sandu is the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) for the office of prime minister. Democrat leader Marian Lupu confirmed the information.
Lupu said that Maia Sandu was invited to a meeting with the Democratic Party’s (PD) members today, but it was postponed upon PLDM’s request.
"Yes, PLDM candidate for the office of prime minister is Maia Sandu, who we have been waited today. But, our colleagues asked us to postpone the meeting for tomorrow, but the time was not set," Lupu said.
If PLDM candidate is approved and supported by the other two components of the European Integration Alliance-3, President Nicolae Timofti will sign the decree on designation of Maia Sandu as candidate for post of prime minister. Once designated, Sandu has a 15-day delay in order to present the parliament the government’s action programme and list of cabinet ministers.
Maia Sandu has served as education minister since 2012. Previously, she served as advisor to World Bank Executive Director in Washington for two years. She is 43 years old and is single.
