Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) has strengthened and conducted the rotation of a group of 10 Ukrainian military observers and one on behalf of Russia, who began working in the Security Zone. At the same time, during the meeting of the JCC on 23 July, six reports on the situation in Security Zone were received and approved, the Bureau of Reintegration has reported.
During the meeting, the sides were to discuss the issue of ensuring free movement in the Security Zone. The Transnistrian delegation tried to deflect talks on the matter. To this effect, Tiraspol representatives continue to defy agreements and commitments of the JCC co-chairs on freedom of movement in the Security Zone.
Chisinau representatives in the Joint Control Commission have repeatedly called for the involvement of independent foreign experts to monitor the situation in the Security Zone, arguing that in the context of the latest regional developments, this was absolutely necessary.
The Moldovan delegation's stand was supported by representatives of Ukraine and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the latter offering more proposals on carrying out monitoring of the situation in the Security Zone this way in the future. The proposals were presented during an ad hoc meeting at the level of the JCC leadership, being supported by all participants and, in particular, by the co-chairman on behalf of Russia, who stressed that these represented the views of all delegations on this matter.
At the same time, the sides decided that the co-chairs and representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE Mission will meet to finalise setting out measures aimed at solving the problem of free movement in the Security Zone at the OSCE Mission’s office in Chisinau on 28 July 2015.
The next meeting of the JCC will take place on 10 September after the end of the summer holidays of the Commission.
