Ukraine appoints new ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - Ivan Gnatyshyn is the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree appointing the new Ukrainian ambassador on 28 July.
Ivan Gnatyshyn was born in the Chernivtsi oblast, western Ukraine. He also served as Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova between March 1996 and December 2000.
Ivan Gnatyshyn was head of department at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Kiev starting from 2000 till 2003, and ambassador-at-large in 2003-2004. Beginning with 2004 till 2006, he held the position of ambassador of Ukraine to Slovenia, and worked as head of department at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in 2006- 2007. Gnatyshyn acted as deputy foreign minister between 2007 and 2011. Before his appointment as ambassador to Moldova, Ivan Gnatyshyn was adviser to the Ukrainian foreign affairs minister.
The former ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova, Sergey Pirozhkov ,was recalled from office in November 2014.
