European Union to provide all support to new Moldovan government

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ -The European Union will provide all support to the new Moldovan government. Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola made statements to this effect at a meeting with Prime Minister Valeriu Strele at the government today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

Pirkka Tapiola congratulated Strelet on the swearing in office of the prime minister, as well as of the entire cabinet of ministers and highlighted the importance of this event for ensuring stability and continuation of reforms in Moldova. Tapiola confirmed the European Union’s willingness to cooperate and reiterated the support for promoting reforms and modernising Moldova.   

For his part, Strelet showed openness for an efficient dialogue with the European partners. „It is natural to have this first official meeting as prime minister with you, the representative of the European Union in Moldova. We have an ambitious agenda and we are confident that we will successfully implement it, together with our partners,” Strelet said.    

The officials also approached the bilateral cooperation, implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and activity priorities in the near future. The sides also tackled the present stage of implementation of conditions on creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, including in the Transnistrian region. 

Attending the event also were Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stephane Bride, Deputy Prime Ministers Victor Osipov and Gheorghe Brega.
