Moldovan deputy premier, U.S. ambassador tackle Transnistria-related issues

Chisinau, 4 August /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov has met U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials tackled priority issues on the bilateral agenda, priorities of the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as prospects of the five-plus-two talks.
Ambassador James Pettit welcomed the swearing in office of the new Moldovan government and highlighted that one of the expectations towards the ruling coalition was that the latter should support a substantial dialogue with Tiraspol, in order to make progress in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and find solutions to problems in the region. Pettit also stressed the need to continue the five-plus-two talks. James Pettit said that the United States would further back reintegration efforts of Moldova and underlined that it was necessary to strengthen institutional capacities and coordination of policies in this area at governmental level.
The sides also approached the situation in the Security Zone from eastern Moldova and voiced common stance on the need to ensure peace and stability in the region. Victor Osipov thanked the American partners for the constant support provided to Moldova, including for the country's reintegration.
