Five companies lower diesel fuel, liquefied gas prices in Moldova

Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/ - Five oil companies, four of which import fuels,  have announced cutting the pump prices for diesel fuel and liquefied gas by an average of 0.23 lei per litre, respectively 0.10 lei. At the same time, one of the five companies notified the National Energy Regulation Agency (ANRE) on decreasing the petrol price by 0.10 lei per litre.

The pump price for diesel fuel dropped from 16.3 lei per litre, to 16.07 lei. The average price of the liquefied gas reached 9.37 lei per litre, according to the ANRE press service. The price of petrol sold by the company which announced the decrease dropped from 18.27 lei to 18.17 lei per litre.

The five companies explain the cut in retail prices for diesel fuel and liquefied gas by the reduction of the acquisition prices of these fuels.

Under the legislation, the retail prices of petrol, diesel fuel and liquefied gas are determined by traders working on the market ,in accordance with the methodology of formation and implementing prices for petroleum products approved by ANRE. These prices are set based on wholesale selling prices and expenses related to retail sale of petroleum products, by applying a profitability rate of up to 10 per cent, provided for in the aforementioned methodology.

In last mid-July, five of the largest oil companies increased prices for petrol by an average of 0.65 per litre, three weeks after increasing the price by 0.50 lei per litre. The pump price of the most demanded A95 petrol reached 18.3 lei per litre. This was the third notable increase this year, after oil companies had raised petrol prices by 0.50 lei in February.
