Moldovan, Turkish officials address bilateral ties

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal. The officials discussed the bilateral relations and prospects for their development, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
"This is my first meeting with you as prime minister. I would like to mention that you are one of ambassadors accredited to Moldova, whom I personally know for a long time, and I appreciate much our collaboration," Strelet said.
The premier expressed confidence that the Moldovan-Turkish ties would continuously develop and opted for increasing the pace of the economic exchanges between the two states.
The Turkish official voiced certainty that the bilateral relations in diverse cooperation sectors would develop dynamically. Mehmet Selim Kartal emphasised the positive role of the Gagauz community from Moldova in strengthening the friendship and cooperation relations between Moldova and Turkey. "The fact that you paid a working visit to Comrat in a short period after appointment as prime minister is a positive signal," he said.
In the context, Strelet reiterated that the government promoted an active dialogue with the administration of the Gagauz autonomy to meet joint goals on European integration and carry out infrastructure projects, meant to improve the living conditions of the people from all over the country.
The officials approached investment projects implemented in Moldova, backed by Turkey, including via the International Development and Cooperation Agency. The sides reconfirmed the mutual openness and willingness to keep an efficient and productive dialogue.
