South Moldova autonomy governor unveils activity report for first 100 days

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- Bashkan (governor) of Gagauzia Irina Vlah unveiled an activity report for the first 100 days since her swearing in office in Comrat today.
"We have a common position in the dialogue with the central authorities and foreign partners, and we prevented all attempts to destabilize the situation in the autonomy", the bashkan said.
"The autonomy's residents need keeping social and political stability. Together with the government's team, we have been and will remain a guarantor of social understanding in autonomy and we will opt for depoliticizing local and regional authorities", Vlah said.
The bashkan highlighted the constructive relations with the central authorities and tangible results. "After Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet's working visit to the region, an amount of over 1.2 million lei was transferred to complete construction of a surgical resort from Comrat. At the same time, we ruled to open an Agency for Regional Development in the Gagauz-Yeri, which means implementation of more social and infrastructure projects in the autonomy", Vlah said.
In another context, the governor referred to stability in the budgetary sector. "On 1 August, the region's budget was carried filled at a level of 107 per cent, with the wages, pensions and other social payments paid in due time and in full extent", the bashkan said.
"Along with the government's team, we rely much on foreign cooperation. In this context, we have more advantageous joint projects with partners from Turkey, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Turkmenistan, etc. This cooperation is particularly important for such sectors as: health, education and economy of the Gagauz autonomy," Vlah said.
"100 days is a short but important term, during which we have managed to prove intentions to create a prosperous autonomy. The first results are positive and they motivate us to double the efforts to make Gagauzia be a peaceful and flourishing region," the bashkan said.
Irina Vlah was sworn the office governor of Gagauzia on 30 April, after winning the elections for the bashkan position from 22 March 2015.
