Moldovan, European officials tackle motor insurance-related issues

Chisinau, 11 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet met a delegation of the Council of Bureaux, led by President Jean Zenners, on 10 August. Attending the meeting also were representatives of the National Bureau of Motor Insurers (BNAA), the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials addressed the situation on the Moldovan insurance market, in conditions when the risk of temporary suspension of BNAA from GC system maintains, after the Board of Directors of the Council of Bureaux recommended the General Assembly to adopt the respective decision.
Strelet talked about the measures undertaken by the government in order to improve the situation in the banking system, promote a balanced policy and ensure macroeconomic stability in Moldova. Strelet said that the government would use its competences and would ensure an efficient cooperation with independent institutions in charge of regulating the area, in order to avoid unfavourable evolutions on the Moldovan motor insurance market.
For his part, Jean Zenners reiterated the importance of BNAA functionality, its maintenance in the Green Card international insurance system and overcoming difficulties faced by the insurance sector, specifying that these might generate serious problems for Moldova's economy. Zenners highlighted the mentioned council's willingness to provide aid to the Moldovan authorities in this respect.
BNAA is an association based on the principle of accession of motor insurers as members.
