Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the political representatives in the Transnistrian conflict settlement Victor Osipov and Nina Shtanski, attended by representatives of the mediators and observers within the five-plus-two negotiations, took place at the Tiraspol Office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
During the meeting the sides pointed out that over the three months since the last meeting many problems had accumulated and that they needed to be addressed immediately. In this regard, the interlocutors agreed that it was necessary to reactivate the work dialogue and agreed for the meeting of political representatives to take place every two weeks. In this context, Victor Osipov said: "Without a sustained effort, the raised issues will not be resolved. We hope to maintain such a pace of work, and the meetings’ purpose should be to identify solutions favourable for the citizens and business environment. Looking to point fingers and a confrontational atmosphere represents a way that has no chances to lead to positive results."
During the discussion, the sides reiterated the topic of the reciprocal cases started against each other. Victor Osipov stressed the importance of the correct classification of these criminal cases, stressing that the executive had no right to interfere in the attributions of the judicial power, filing and designating criminal cases being an exclusive prerogative of the judicial bodies. However, Deputy Premier Victor Osipov informed those present that currently the international practice was being studied to identify best models in this area that could generate some solutions in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement.
Another widely discussed topic was ensuring freedom of movement of persons and goods. Cases of detention and deportation of more foreigners from the territory of Moldova that took place at the Chisinau International Airport were brought up. Victor Osipov stressed that the Moldovan authorities ensured the freedom of movement of all persons, and the cases of detention and deportation were exceptions justified by reasons of state security.
The Chisinau representative returned to the issue of the lands located beyond the Tiraspol-Kamenka highway, belonging to residents of the Dubasari district, who are denied access and the possibility to work. The Moldovan side conveyed an updated vision on the issue, noting that it was likely to affect property and entrepreneurial rights in general, as fundamental principles for economic activity and investment. A solution to overcome this problem was proposed to Tiraspol to be discussed at the next meeting. From Tiraspol, Deputy Premier Osipov travelled directly to Cosnita where he met with the new local public administration of the Dubasari district.
