Moldovan premier meets canned goods producers

Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today met canned goods producers, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The sides discussed the difficulties faced by Moldovan canned goods producers and proposed solutions to overcome them.
Access to favourable loans and the need to open new sales markets, as a result of the embargo imposed by Russia in the summer of 2014, were among the topics discussed with the members of the Association of Canned Goods Producers. They also asked for the cancellation of a 10-per cent duty imposed by Ukraine on imports of domestic processed fruits and vegetable products, as well as for more protection and promotion of Moldovan canned goods.
Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet noted that the canned goods market development was contained in the government’s programme. The prime minister gave assurances that he would examine all the requests of the producers, set out at the meeting. Valeriu Strelet said that he would discuss these matters with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts. The prime minister reiterated his willingness to have a continuous dialogue with producers of canned goods from Moldova.
Attending the talks were Agriculture Minister Ion Sula and Deputy Agriculture Minister Vlad Loghin.
