Moldovan, Russian premiers discuss ties by phone

Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today had a phone conversation with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The Russian official congratulated Valeriu Strelet on his swearing in the office as prime minister of Moldova.
The sides discussed in detail up-to-date issues on the Moldovan-Russian bilateral relations' agenda. Both prime ministers called for further promotion of the political dialogue between the two countries at various levels, development of cooperation in trade, economy, energy and humanitarian sectors.
Furthermore, the two premiers spoke out for the resumption of the work of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation as soon as possible, with its last meeting held back in 2012.
A special topic of the discussion represented the problems of the Transnistrian conflict settlement. The sides stressed the need to reinvigorate the negotiation process and undertake concrete actions aimed at helping build trust between Chisinau and Tiraspol. Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet declared for the completion of the withdrawal of the Russian military forces and ammunition from Moldova.
The Moldovan prime minister invited his Russian counterpart to pay a visit to Moldova.
