Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ - Three children and one woman from Moldova were killed and another 20 passengers were wounded, after a coach had overturned nearby the settlement Baldovinesti, Braila county, Romania, today morning.

The head of the press service at the Foreign and European Integration Ministry, Ana Taban, has told MOLDPRES that 36 Moldovan citizens and two Turkey-born drivers were on board of the coach heading from Turkey. Two brothers, a girl and a woman are among the four persons dead in the accident. Five out of about 20 injured passengers are in a critical condition and were carried to hospitals from Braila and Galati. The other passengers are to be transported to Moldova by another coach.

Taban said the consul of Moldova in Bucharest had moved to the accident site to provide needed assistance to the victims.

In the wake of the accident, the Braila authorities declared red code of intervention, in line with the procedure imposed in case of accidents with more than ten victims. More teams of the emergency rescue service from Romania (SMURD) and the county Ambulance Service from Braila and Galati went on the spot.

Preliminary information shows that the accidents would have occurred because of the high speed and a wet roadway.
