Six Moldovans get scholarships from Slovakia

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/- Six Moldovans will receive university and doctoral scholarships from the Slovak government. The name of the six winners of the contest were announced by the Slovak Embassy in Moldova today.
Slovak Ambassador to Moldova Robert Kirnag said that five Moldovans would study at the university in such sectors as: general medicine, dentistry, international relations, environmental management and water management. They will study the language in Slovakia during one year, after which they will study the chosen specialty. The nominated Moldovans will receive 300 euros each month from the Slovakian state.
At the same time, a student from Moldova was chosen by competition to make doctoral studies in dentistry. Also, he will study Slovakian, and next three years - dentistry. The concerned person will monthly receive about 400 euros from the Slovak state. The ambassador said pupils with high marks and who had most diplomas had been chosen.
Attending the event, Education Minister Corina Fusu said that the Moldovans studying in Slovakia would have opportunity "to discover Europe and bring it at home, in Moldova".
Slovakia became a EU member in 2004. The Slovak government annually provides about 800,000 euros as grants to carry out in Moldova projects on drinking water supply, repair of schools and kindergartens, waste management. This accounts for about one third of all financial assistance, provided by the Slovak state to other countries during one year. Slovakia is offering scholarships to Moldovans during 10 years.
