Moldovan PM says creativeness, development of practical competences should be stimulated to make Moldova competitive

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip has urged young people to combine creativeness with the education and production process, as new things are created in this way. The prime minister made statements to this effect at a today’s meeting with students of the Moldovan Technical University (UTM), organised on the occasion of the opening of a student works’ exhibition titled, Creation Opens Universe, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister thanked the professors for the education he had enjoyed, stressing that studies had shaped his personality and prompted his professional work. “I apply the knowledge gained at UTM in my daily activity; moreover, in the office of prime minister, I try to govern as an engineer,” Pavel Filip said.
At the same time, the prime minister urged the lyceum graduates, who will study at a faculty, to choose the specialty of engineering. “If we want to modernize and develop the economy, we need quite many engineers, who are to create jobs for specialists of other sectors as well. Engineers are the ones who can create, and this fact is very important and appreciated,” the prime minister noted.
Pavel Filip also visited the construction site of the Tekwill Excellency Centre in the Information Technologies and Communications field, due to be opened in next September. The centre will make available to students laboratories and halls endowed with last generation equipment, giving them possibility to apply the theoretical knowledge gained. The centre’s construction is coordinated by the Association of Companies from the Information and Communication Technology sector, in partnership with UTM, Information Technology and Communications Ministry, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development and the SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) programme of the government of Sweden.
In the end of the visit, the prime minister attended the inauguration of a Planetarium with the Observer of UTM, which will monitor the movement of Moldova’s Satellite, due to be soon launched, and will record the data conveyed by the latter.
