Chisinau, Dec. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Authorities have warned about a new falsehood spreading on Internet about a so-called military action plan in the Transnistrian region. Adrian Băluțel, head of the Moldovan President's Office today reacted to the case and said that it is fake that the Moldovan authorities are preparing military actions in the Transnistrian region. Băluțel said that these are "serious and dangerous disinformation, aimed to sow panic and distrust."
"We reiterate, Chisinau remains firmly committed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict without exception. An essential step for resolving the conflict is the complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian troops, which are illegally stationed on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Moldova," Baluțel said.
He added that "it is manipulative and completely false to blame Chisinau or Kiev for the energy situation in the region". "We point out, there is a clear contract between Moldovagaz and Gazprom, which provides for the delivery of natural gas on the left bank, regardless of the transit route. The current problems stem from Gazprom's refusal to fulfill contractual obligations, not from the actions of the Moldovan Government", he said.
Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service reported on Monday that Moldovan President Maia Sandu is reportedly preparing a plan "for a military operation to take control of the Transnistrian region".
