Moldovan citizens to be able to donate two per cent of income tax to NGOs

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/-The cabinet today backed a legislative initiative of a group of MPs, amending and supplementing some legislative documents, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
The amendments state that starting with 1 January of the following fiscal year, taxpayers who are natural persons without an entrepreneurial activity and debts for the previous fiscal years, will be able to donate up to two per cent of their income tax due to the state budget, in order to finance the activity of NGOs.
Beneficiaries of this type of donation will be non-commercial organizations, religious cults and their components. The list is to be annually carried out by the Justice Ministry and published until 31 December.
The government shall establish the application mechanism of these amendments and the management of these sums.
A similar practice is used in more European countries. Romanian and Bulgarian taxpayers also donate two per cent of their income taxes to back non-commercial organizations.
