Moldovan parliament organises charity action to support socially vulnerable family

Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/- The parliament today raised money for a socially vulnerable family within a charity action, Sweets Fair, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Employees of the parliament’s secretariat prepared sweets and pastry at home, by their own recipes, and sold them in the hall of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry. As much as 16,400 lei has been collected from the sale of sweets and pastry. This money, along with more necessary products are to be donated to a needy family with four children from Chisinau.
“This is the first initiative of ladies from the parliament’s secretariat. On the eve of the Palm Sunday and Easter, we are coming up with a charitable gesture for the sadder than us, to bring happinness to their homes,” Parliament’s Secretary General Ala Popescu said.
The first buyer of the fair was Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, who encouraged the employees to transform such charity actions into tradition.
“This is a nice action for a noble cause. Such actions do not just mobilize the team of the parliament’s secretariat, but can make it better and more united for a noble cause - to collect funds for a vulnerable family”, he said.
Attending the event were MPs and employees of the parliament’s secretariat. Next week, a traditional Easter charity exhibition will be organized in the hall of parliament to support orphan children.
