Moldovan government to speed up implementation of infrastructure projects

Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - The present situation in terms of implementation of infrastructure projects, financial programmes and reforms under way in this sector were the main subjects tackled at a meeting of the Committee on supervising the project on supporting the programme in the roads’ and railways’ sector, as well as of the international financial institutions in the road infrastructure sector. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip stressed the need of branch institutions’ active involvement in developing the national infrastructure and removing all deficiencies, in order to ensure the enforcement of the infrastructure projects in the set terms.
Deputy Transport and Roads Infrastructure Vitalie Rapcea unveiled the situation on turning to account the grants offered by development partners for restoring national roads, results of implementation of the national road safety strategy, as well as the obstacles faced in this process.
Also, the committee members brought for discussion the stage of enforcement of the Agreement on Common Aviation Area with the European Union. In this context, the participants in the meeting exchanged opinions on adjusting the legal framework, which will facilitate the carrying out of the commitments taken, solutions for developing and restoring the railway, in order to enhance the capacity of the freight and passenger transport.
The Committee on supervising the project on support of the programme in the sector of roads’ and international railways in the road infrastructure sector was set up under a government instruction from 14 March 2008, in order to monitor the correctness and transparency of implementation of projects on development of infrastructure in Moldova, with the financial assistance of foreign partners.
