Parliament supports enhancing competitiveness in information technology and communications sector in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- The parliament backs enhancing competitiveness of the information technology and communications sector in Moldova, as a factor of sustainable economic development. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made statements to this effect at the inauguration of the Moldova ICT Summit 2016, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The speaker said that the business environment in Moldova could be improved, becoming more attractive for investors through achievements recorded in the information technology and communications sector.
In the context, Candu said that the parliament was set to advance in modernizing the ICT sector in legislative institution. “The 2016 year might be a year of parliament's technological upgrading by implementing the e-parliament system. I want that both MPs and civil servants, by one click on mobile phone, should be able to verify agenda, consult the draft laws and may even vote, in order to advance in the legislative creation sector,” the speaker said.
Candu informed that there was support in behalf of parliament, including at political level, to improve the legislative framework in the ICT sector. In the context, Andrian Candu referred to a draft law on creating parks in the information technology industry in Moldova, recently voted by the parliament in the second reading.
The speaker urged the ICT specialists to be persevering, innovative and to propose interesting ideas, due to be backed by the parliament.
Moldova ICT Summit 2016, the 7th issue, inaugurates the Information Technology and Communications Days in Moldova, held on 27 April-17 May. The event represents a platform of interaction between authorities, business environment, development partners, civil society and academic environment, in order to develop modern information society, due to fit the present realities.
The participants in the two-day international conference will tackle issues related to the development of competitiveness in the ICT sector. Attending the event are representatives of authorities, business environment, investment companies, development partners and academic institutions of Moldova and from abroad.
