Moldovan PM says law on IT parks to change Moldova’s informational technologies industry

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip today attended the ministerial session of the 16th edition of Moldova ICT Summit, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Attending the event were also Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the chairman of the National Association of ICT Companies, Veaceslav Cunev, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit, Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Signe Burgstaller, business people, as well as Moldovan and foreign IT young professionals and experts.
During the event, Filip approached the need to carry out and promote ICT projects in a short time.
“The ICT sector has at least two major advantages for Moldova’s economic development. Information technologies are the most efficient tools to eradicate corruption and bring significant added value to the economy. Therefore, they fit Moldova perfectly,” the prime minister emphasized.
The prime minister also touched upon the efficient collaboration with the parliament, thanking the Moldovan speaker and MPs for adopting the law on IT parks in final reading.
“I believe it is a revolutionary initiative, able to change the Moldovan IT industry and align it with the one of developed countries. I want to encourage my colleagues from the Information Technologies and Communications Ministry an urge them to finalize the associated normative framework as soon as possible, in order to enforce this law,” Filip said.
Being organized annually, Moldova ICT Summit is an interactive dialogue platform between authorities in the field, business people and youth passionate about IT. It aims to develop and enforce the IT industry in Moldova’s traditional sectors.
