Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip during the cabinet meeting today demanded that the head of the National Office of Social Insurances (CNAS), Maria Borta, resigns, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
According to Filip, CNAS made an error, depriving 35,831 pensioners, which pensions got higher than 1,500 lei after the ten-per-cent indexation on 1 April 2016, of the financial state aid.
During the cabinet meeting, the prime minister voiced his regret for the situation created, emphasizing that “it is unacceptable that social rights, especially of retired people, be diminished by at least one leu.”
According to the legislation, pensioners with pensions smaller than 1,500 lei, are entitled to monthly financial state aid, starting with 1 July 2014. As a result of the indexation, according to the government’s decision No 293, of 14 March 2016, “on the indexation of social insurance payments and some state social benefits” and because some of the pensioners’ pensions have exceeded the amount of 1,500 lei, they had been deprived of the right to benefit from financial state aid.
