Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics Ministry (ME) is willing to develop and maintain an independent, impartial and competent accreditation body, which, becoming member of the Bilateral Mutual Recognition Agreement, will be able to provide confidence in Moldovan goods on the international market, by mutual recognition, promotion and acceptance of the accredited conformity assessment. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic made statements to this effect at a conference on completion of the project Twinning Light Fiche: Support for the National Accreditation Centre MOLDAC to successfully undergo the EA peer evaluation process.

According to the ME press service, in the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Calmic, the implementation of the Twinning Light project had a favourable impact on the work of the National Accreditation Centre, contributing to improving the accreditation process in Moldova and will eventually facilitate the trade with the EU member countries, in conditions of equality in free circulation of goods. “Following the project’s implementation, MOLDAC, with the support of colleagues from the ACCREDIA Agency of Italy, took concrete steps to enhance the competence and performance of the staff involved in the accreditation process, with the personnel widely benefitting from transfer of knowledge on enforcing European and international standards in the accreditation and conformity assessment sector,” the minister noted.

For his part, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said that, by the implementation of this project, Moldova not only had made a huge step towards getting the status of member of the Bilateral Mutual Recognition Agreement, but would also provide trust to buyers and authorities in services of accredited conformity assessment, would facilitate the cross-border trade, etc. “The implementation by Moldova of reforms in all sectors, including the accreditation one, points to the fact that the country takes considerable efforts to fulfill the commitments assumed both within the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement,” the European official said.

Italian Ambassador to Moldova Enrico Nunziata stressed that he was happy that an Italian institution, such as ACCREDIA, had contributed to the carrying out of Moldova’s European integration. He also said that the Italian government would further stay a loyal partner of Moldova in implementing diverse projects and programmes on reforming all the social and economic fields. “We have already established concrete goals with several institutions of Moldova on carrying out bilateral projects in terms certification of bio-products, in the renewable energy field, etc.,” the Italian diplomat said.

At the end of the conference, Director of the MOLDAC National Accreditation Centre Eugenia Spoiala said that, till late 2016, the national institution was to get the status of member of the European Bilateral Mutual Recognition Agreement. “MOLDAC must be recognized at the European level, as all its activities in the conformity assessment sector will be acknowledged only in this way. This means the all reports on laboratory tests, conformity certificates, as well as on trust in Moldovan goods, which should freely circulate in the European area, will be recognized,” Spoiala said.

The project Twinning Light Fiche: Support for the National Accreditation Centre MOLDAC to successfully undergo the EA peer evaluation process, was financed by the European Union and carried out by the ACCREDIA Accreditation Body from Italy during eight months.
