Moldovan private company to pay one-million-lei-worth fine for violation of competition law

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) has irrevocably confirmed violation of the law norms in the competition sector by BM Technotrade Ltd company – the enterprises holding the BOMBA trademark. Following the finishing of the litigation, which has lasted more months, the company is to pay a fine worth 975, 485,400 lei to the state budget, the Competition Council has said.
The Competition Council reminds that, given the excessive and concomitant increase in prices for household appliances, on 4 March 2015, it started an investigation within which the carrying out of an inspection at the enterprise BM Technotrade Ltd was ordered. The latter refused to allow the inspection by the Competition Council, for which the company was fined with 975, 485,400 lei.
In this context, the Council said that, in line with the provisions of Article 56 of the competition law, the Competition Council has right to make inspections at enterprises, in order to carry out the instructed investigations. For its part, the enterprise is obliged to undergo the inspection carried out by the Council.
