Moldovan audiovisual regulator issues broadcast license for new public TV channel

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/-The Audiovisual Coordination Council (CCA) during today’s meeting granted a broadcast license to “Moldova 2” TV Channel.

“Moldova 2” TV channel will be the second channel on the grid of “Teleradio-Moldova” National Public Broadcasting Company. It will broadcast non-stop through cable networks all over the country. 

According to “Teleradio-Moldova” company’s project, the TV channel will be generalist and will broadcast information of public interest from the culture, education, science, economy, innovation and entertainment sectors.

The launch of “Moldova 2” TV channel is recommended by the European Broadcasting Union. The agreements signed see that “Teleradio-Moldova” company must broadcast sports programmes on a daily basis. Thus, “Moldova 2” TV channel aims to help out “Moldova 1” TV channel in this sector and will re-broadcast sports events due in 2016- Olympic Games in Rio and the European Football Championship. “Moldova 2” also aims to revive the tremendous archive of the public broadcasting company and broadcast the most important cultural events from Moldova and abroad.  

During the talks, members of the CCA praised the editorial efforts of “Moldova 2” TV channel, which will diversify and enrich its public TV services.

In this context, CCA head Dinu Ciocan voiced hope that it would be a viable project and would develop its programme grid for consumers. “I also hope that it will be an original channel, able to enhance the audience of the public TV channel”.

“Teleradio-Moldova” asked the audiovisual regulator to issue a broadcast license for “Moldova 2” TV channel on 30 March 2016. The license is available for a period of six years.
