Moldovan premier attends Resurrection religious service

Chisinau, 1 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, along with President Nicolae Timofti and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, participated in the meeting of the Holy Fire, brought from Jerusalem by a delegation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, led by Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova, Most Right Reverend Vladimir, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Hundreds of believers and representatives of the clergy from all over Moldova, as well as high state officials attended the event, which took place on the square of the Birth of God Cathedral from Chisinau.
Following the ceremony of meeting the Holy Fire and the addressing of the Metropolitan, the prime minister shared the Holy Light to the Christians who gathered on the Cathedral’s square. Also, under the tradition, the prime minister joined the believers and lighted a candle at the Liturgy officiated at the Cathedral.
The Holy Fire is lighted in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre each year on the Sunday of the Orthodox Easter. This year, the Holy Light was brought to Chisinau for the 14th time.
