Moldova to participate in international procedures for awarding contracts

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/- The government approved at a today’s meeting a decision on the draft law for Moldova’s accession to the agreement of World Trade Organisation (WTO) on public procurement, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Moldova’s accession to the agreement represents an important instrument in creating and maintaining an efficient national system of public procurement. The agreement’s implementation will encourage the foreign investments by participating of foreign companies in tenders from Moldova. At the same time, the Moldovan companies will have the opportunity to participate in auctions organized outside the country, taking over the best international practices based on principles of transparency, competition and free trade.
Moldova’s accession to the WTO agreement on public procurement is an important action for liberalizing commerce. In this context, the government institutions took a string of reform measures in the field, among which approval of the law No 131 of 03.07.2015 on public procurement.
Under the decision by the WTO committee, Moldova is to ratify the agreement before 16 June 2016.
