Moldovan PM approaches financial-banking system reform

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- The actions taken by authorities on discovering fraud in the financial-banking system represented the main issue approached by the permanent committee for monitoring the cases of increased social interest during a yesterday’s meeting, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Participants in the event submitted information on asset recovery, difficulties in recovering financial means, as well as measures due to be taken to ensure continuity of the mentioned actions.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip noted that the financial-banking reform, which would include a set of measures to enhance confidence in the system, effectiveness of bank supervision and to improve management in banks would prevent large-scale fraud. In the context, the premier appreciated a set of laws on banking sector reform, elaborated by the National Bank of Moldova. It passed public consultation stage and is to be approved by government and parliament in the near future.
Attending the event were heads of the relevant institutions, such as: Prosecutor General’s Office, National Anti-Corruption Centre, National Bank of Moldova, Information and Security Service, Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry and liquidators of banks under liquidation.
