Moldovan PM meets Russian envoy

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip has met Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Muhametsin. The sides discussed the current stage of bilateral relations and their evolution. They remarked the potential for Moldovan-Russian cooperation at different levels: economic, social and cultural, and encouraged its constructive and pragmatic approach, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
A special attention was paid to the possibility to resume the export of Moldovan fruits and vegetables on the Russian market. In this context, the sides pointed out the need for direct talks between the relevant institutions from the two countries in order to liquidate technical barriers in the Moldovan-Russian commercial relations. Filip mentioned Moldova’s interest in boosting the economic cooperation and increasing the trade exchanges with Russia.
They also broached the workforce migration and need to ensure social protection of Moldovans working in Russia.
In another context, Farit Muhametsin conveyed a congratulatory message to Filip on 9 May on behalf of his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev. In this context, the two officials tackled the actions taken by the Moldovan government on marking Victory Day and commemorating heroes died for independence of motherland, noting the importance of promoting memory and facts of war veterans, as well as strengthening society around human values.
At the end, the sides confirmed openness for further development of Moldovan-Russian relations, based on mutual trust and respect.
