Moldovan government determined to remove possibilites for corruption

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip presented the policies promoted by the government and the activity carried out in the first 100 days at a today’s meeting with representatives of local public administration from northern Edinet district, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
“Since the swearing in office of the government, we were obliged to work in crisis regime, acting concomitantly in several directions: order in the system, higher budget revenues, dialogue with development partners, cut in prices where possible and ensuring social justice. The good news is that after 100 days of governing, we avoided Moldova’s economic collapse and managed to stabilize the crisis in the country”, he said.
The prime minister also referred to the government’s actions in terms of cooperation with foreign partners, to re-establish trust and unlock funding of development and infrastructure projects.
In this context, the prime minister said it was important for Moldova to be treated as a serious and reliable partner on the international stage. “A country programme with the International Monetary Fund will help us very much, as IMF signs agreements only with the states having clear-cut rules and well-defined approach in stabilizing the macroeconomic situation," Filip said.
Also, the talks were focused on the most pressing problems faced by the settlements from Edinet district, as well as on perspectives for the region’s development. Pavel Filip assured that the local authorities would be backed in the projects they initiate, with the government being a partner at central level in this effort.
“In parallel with economic stabilization, we started cleanup the system. One by one, we remove the schemes affecting both economic agents and consumers. No matter whether it is about Customs, Fiscal Inspectorate, Border Police, Health, National Social Insurances House or other institutions. We are determined to remove the possibilities for abuse or corruption and to change attitude of civil servants towards citizens and entrepreneurs”, he said.
At the end, the participants in the meeting put questions to the prime minister, some of them referring to managing local public budgets, public procurement and measures to back entrepreneurs of the region.
